HARNESSING FOR GOD THE ENERGIES OF LOVE

Some say a shift is happening now.

When I see declarations like the Three Days of Love, A Global Call to Action, and other proclamations for peace, a prophesy made by Teilard de Chardin comes to mind:

"The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the wind, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in human history, man will have discovered fire," he said.

Is that day near? I hope so. Can we help make it so? I believe so. How?

One by one, day by day, we can choose to be loving. When we don’t feel the emotion, we can speak and act kindly anyway. We can treat ourselves and others with respect.

It’s simple. No, not always easy. But we can do it. And when we fail, we can practice compassion.

It’s within our reach–this harnessing for God the energies of love.

We can also enter a state of loving. St. Teresa of Avila called it the interior castle. Are there keys that can help us open the door to that place?

Yes. First, we intend to enter. Next, we ask for help.

I like to follow intention and prayer with an anchoring action.

In this case, I reach for a touchstone for love, something that reflects love.

One of my touchstones is a photo of my twin grandbabies. I look into their innocent, trusting eyes, see their Loving Essence, and fall into the depths of my own. Another is a close-up photo of a deer I encountered one day.

Some keys gently open the door to our hearts.

Some break it open and bring us to tears.

It’s within our reach–this harnessing for God the energies of love.

Skeptics may scoff and point to the “ills” in the world. Yes, we face challenges. But there is more harmony and health in the world than there is dis-ease.

Let’s focus on the beauty, the strength, and the courage we see. Where we see confusion and trouble, let’s flood those areas with compassion.

It’s within our reach–this harnessing for God the energies of love.
