THE SEA AND OUR RESOURCES

"As surely as I believe God created the sun and the moon and put the stars up in the sky and the granules of sand on the beach, so do I believe we have natural resources placed within us as abundant as the sea, but if we don't believe and we don't tap into those resources, they'll lie dormant within us."

-Christine Lemmon

When I think of all that lies dormant within us, I feel deep sadness.

We've been vigorously mining the resources of earth. Imagine if we mindfully cultivated the natural resources within us, within all children.

We do nurture them to some extent. And to some extent our resources are refined by life's struggles, like stones are polished by tumbling.

But we don't yet grasp the beauty in our being or the depth of strength or vastness of love we can tap into. Nor the talent.

We don't yet grasp the wonder of it.

We do glimpse it at times.

I find it most visible after natural disasters when our pretenses are stripped, our masks are removed, and we become real. In such times we see selfless acts of love, courage, and compassion that can give us chills and make us weep.

Let's not save the best of us for heart-breaking disasters. Let's be real today. Let's tap into the wealth of our true self, let our beauty shine, and respond to life with love,

Charlene

THE SECOND GIFT IS BEAUTY.

May your deeds reflect its depth.
